1 καὶ υἱοὶ Ρουβην πρωτοτόκου Ισραηλ ὅτι οὗτος ὁ πρωτότοκος καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀναβῆναι ἐπὶ τὴν κοίτην τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἔδωκεν εὐλογίαν αὐτοῦ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ Ιωσηφ υἱῷ Ισραηλ καὶ οὐκ ἐγενεαλογήθη εἰς πρωτοτόκια 2 ὅτι Ιουδας δυνατὸς ἰσχύι καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς ἡγούμενον ἐξ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἡ εὐλογία τοῦ Ιωσηφ | 1 And now for the sons of Ruben, Israel’s first-born. First-born he was, yet never so reckoned, from the day when he came between his father’s sheets; his privilege went to another son of Israel, Joseph, instead. 2 Of all those brethren, Juda was the most powerful, and from him chieftains sprang; but it was still Joseph that had the first-born’s privilege. |
3 υἱοὶ Ρουβην πρωτοτόκου Ισραηλ Ενωχ καὶ Φαλλους Αρσων καὶ Χαρμι 4 υἱοὶ Ιωηλ Σεμεϊ καὶ Βαναια υἱὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ υἱοὶ Γουγ υἱοῦ Σεμεϊ 5 υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Μιχα υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Ρηχα υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Βααλ 6 υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Βεηρα ὃν μετῴκισεν Θαγλαθφαλνασαρ βασιλεὺς Ασσουρ οὗτος ἄρχων τῶν Ρουβην 7 καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ τῇ πατριᾷ αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς καταλοχισμοῖς αὐτῶν κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν ὁ ἄρχων Ιωηλ καὶ Ζαχαρια 8 καὶ Βαλεκ υἱὸς Οζουζ υἱὸς Σαμα υἱὸς Ιωηλ οὗτος κατῴκησεν ἐν Αροηρ καὶ ἐπὶ Ναβαυ καὶ Βεελμαων 9 καὶ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς κατῴκησεν ἕως ἐρχομένων τῆς ἐρήμου ἀπὸ τοῦ ποταμοῦ Εὐφράτου ὅτι κτήνη αὐτῶν πολλὰ ἐν γῇ Γαλααδ 10 καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Σαουλ ἐποίησαν πόλεμον πρὸς τοὺς παροίκους καὶ ἔπεσον ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν κατοικοῦντες ἐν σκηναῖς ἕως πάντες κα{T'} ἀνατολὰς τῆς Γαλααδ | 3 The sons of Ruben, Israel’s first-born, were called Enoch, Phallu, Esron and Charmi …. 4 From Joel came Samaia, Gog, Semei, 5 Micha, Reia and Baal; 6 from him, too, came Beera, the Rubenite chieftain who was carried off as a prisoner by Thelgath-Phalnasar, king of the Assyrians. 7 But the stock of his clan counted many households, who had still their own chieftains, Jehiel, and Zacharias, 8 and Bala, that was descended from Joas through Samma and Azaz, and held lands in Aroer right up to Nebo and Beelmeon. 9 On the east, they were bounded by the approaches of the desert, and the river Euphrates; many were the cattle they grazed in the Galaadite country. 10 In Saul’s time, they had fought against the Agareans and made an end of them, occupying their tents thenceforward all over the eastern part of Galaad. | 3 Filii ergo Ruben primogeniti Israël: Enoch, et Phallu, Esron, et Carmi. 4 Filii Joël: Samia filius ejus, Gog filius ejus, Semei filius ejus, 5 Micha filius ejus, Reia filius ejus, Baal filius ejus, 6 Beera filius ejus, quem captivum duxit Thelgathphalnasar rex Assyriorum, et fuit princeps in tribu Ruben. Multum quippe jumentorum numerum possidebant in terra Galaad. |
11 υἱοὶ Γαδ κατέναντι αὐτῶν κατῴκησαν ἐν τῇ Βασαν ἕως Σελχα 12 Ιωηλ ὁ πρωτότοκος καὶ Σαφαμ ὁ δεύτερος καὶ Ιανι ὁ γραμματεὺς ἐν Βασαν 13 καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν κα{T'} οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν Μιχαηλ Μοσολλαμ καὶ Σεβεε καὶ Ιωρεε καὶ Ιαχαν καὶ Ζουε καὶ Ωβηδ ἑπτά 14 οὗτοι υἱοὶ Αβιχαιλ υἱοῦ Ουρι υἱοῦ Ιδαι υἱοῦ Γαλααδ υἱοῦ Μιχαηλ υἱοῦ Ισαι υἱοῦ Ιουρι υἱοῦ Ζαβουχαμ 15 υἱοῦ Αβδιηλ υἱοῦ Γουνι ἄρχων οἴκου πατριῶν 16 κατῴκουν ἐν Γαλααδ ἐν Βασαν καὶ ἐν ταῖς κώμαις αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ περίχωρα Σαρων ἕως ἐξόδου 17 πάντων ὁ καταλοχισμὸς ἐν ἡμέραις Ιωαθαμ βασιλέως Ιουδα καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Ιεροβοαμ βασιλέως Ισραηλ | 11 Beyond them, the descendants of Gad held all Basan up to Selcha; 12 Joel held the primacy, and after him came Saphan, Janai and Saphat, there in Basan. 13 Seven kindred chiefs they had, all at the head of their clans, Michael, Mosollam, Sebe, Jorai, Jachan, Zie and Heber; 14 all these were descended through Abihail, Huri, Jara, Galaad, Michael, Jesesi and Jeddo from Buz; 15 their kinsmen, too, the sons of Abdiel, son of Guni, were chieftains of clans. 16 In Galaad they dwelt, and in the townships of Basan, and on the common-lands of Saron, right up to its borders. 17 All these were registered in the days when Joatham reigned in Juda, and Jeroboam in Israel. | 11 Filii vero Gad e regione eorum habitaverunt in terra Basan usque Selcha: 12 Joël in capite, et Saphan secundus: Janai autem et Saphat in Basan. 13 Fratres vero eorum secundum domos cognationum suarum, Michaël, et Mosollam, et Sebe, et Jorai, et Jachan, et Zie, et Heber, septem. 14 Hi filii Abihail, filii Huri, filii Jara, filii Galaad, filii Michaël, filii Jesesi, filii Jeddo, filii Buz. 15 Fratres quoque, filii Abdiel filii Guni, princeps domus in familiis suis. |
18 υἱοὶ Ρουβην καὶ Γαδ καὶ ἥμισυ φυλῆς Μανασση ἐξ υἱῶν δυνάμεως ἄνδρες αἴροντες ἀσπίδας καὶ μάχαιραν καὶ τείνοντες τόξον καὶ δεδιδαγμένοι πόλεμον τεσσαράκοντα καὶ τέσσαρες χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι καὶ ἑξήκοντα ἐκπορευόμενοι εἰς παράταξιν 19 καὶ ἐποίουν πόλεμον μετὰ τῶν Αγαρηνῶν καὶ Ιτουραίων καὶ Ναφισαίων καὶ Ναδαβαίων 20 καὶ κατίσχυσαν ἐ{P'} αὐτῶν καὶ ἐδόθησαν εἰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν οἱ Αγαραῖοι καὶ πάντα τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτῶν ὅτι πρὸς τὸν θεὸν ἐβόησαν ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἤλπισαν ἐ{P'} αὐτόν 21 καὶ ᾐχμαλώτευσαν τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτῶν καμήλους πεντακισχιλίας καὶ προβάτων διακοσίας πεντήκοντα χιλιάδας ὄνους δισχιλίους καὶ ψυχὰς ἀνδρῶν ἑκατὸν χιλιάδας 22 ὅτι τραυματίαι πολλοὶ ἔπεσον ὅτι παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ πόλεμος καὶ κατῴκησαν ἀν{T'} αὐτῶν ἕως τῆς μετοικεσίας | 18 There were forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty warriors from Ruben, Gad, and the eastern half of Manasses, with shield and sword and bow, trained men all, that went out to battle, 19 and levied war on the Agareans, who had Ituraea and Naphis and Nodab 20 to lend them aid. They cried out to the Lord as they went into the fight, and he, to reward their faith, paid heed to them, giving them the mastery over the Agareans and their allies. 21 All the enemy possessed fell into their hands, fifty thousand camels, two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, and two thousand asses, besides a hundred thousand prisoners; 22 and many of them they slew in battle. The Lord had espoused his people’s quarrel, and the Agareans might never come by their own lands again till the time of the captivity. |
23 καὶ οἱ ἡμίσεις φυλῆς Μανασση κατῴκησαν ἐν τῇ γῇ ἀπὸ Βασαν ἕως Βααλερμων καὶ Σανιρ καὶ ὄρος Αερμων καὶ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ αὐτοὶ ἐπλεονάσθησαν 24 καὶ οὗτοι ἀρχηγοὶ οἴκου πατριῶν αὐτῶν Οφερ καὶ Ισεϊ καὶ Ελιηλ καὶ Εσδριηλ καὶ Ιερμια καὶ Ωδουια καὶ Ιεδιηλ ἄνδρες ἰσχυροὶ δυνάμει ἄνδρες ὀνομαστοί ἄρχοντες τῶν οἴκων πατριῶν αὐτῶν | 23 As for the men of eastern Manasses, the territory they held reached from the frontier of Basan as far as Baal-Hermon, and Sanir, and mount Hermon itself, so great their number was. 24 Their clan chiefs were Epher, Jesi, Eliel, Ezriel, Jeremia, Odoia and Jediel; these were the men of rank and power who gave their names to the clans. | 23 Filii quoque dimidiæ tribus Manasse possederunt terram a finibus Basan usque Baal, Hermon, et Sanir, et montem Hermon: ingens quippe numerus erat. 24 Et hi fuerunt principes domus cognationis eorum: Epher, et Jesi, et Eliel, et Ezriel, et Jeremia, et Odoia, et Jediel, viri fortissimi et potentes, et nominati duces in familiis suis. |
25 καὶ ἠθέτησαν ἐν θεῷ πατέρων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπόρνευσαν ὀπίσω θεῶν λαῶν τῆς γῆς οὓς ἐξῆρεν ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν 26 καὶ ἐπήγειρεν ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ τὸ πνεῦμα Φαλωχ βασιλέως Ασσουρ καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα Θαγλαθφαλνασαρ βασιλέως Ασσουρ καὶ μετῴκισεν τὸν Ρουβην καὶ τὸν Γαδδι καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ φυλῆς Μανασση καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτοὺς εἰς Χαλαχ καὶ Χαβωρ καὶ ἐπὶ ποταμὸν Γωζαν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης | 25 But all these forsook the God of their fathers, and played the wanton by worshipping with the native folk whom God had dispossessed at their coming. 26 So he, the God of Israel, would incite the Assyrian kings, Phul and Thelgath-Phalnasar, to remove Ruben and Gad and eastern Manasses; to Lahela, Habor, Ara and the river Gozan he carried them off, and there they remain to this day. |
